Ramadan Group Counseling

A Ramadan Group Counseling Experience for Relational HealinG and Presence
with Saman Hussain

When Fasting Reveals the Heart

Ramadan often reveals what daily life keeps hidden.
As we fast and step away from habitual coping, emotional and relational patterns come to the surface. What is often dismissed as irritability, fatigue, or moodiness may actually be deeper relational longing asking for attention.

February 8 to March 8, 2026 | 5 Session

This is an intentionally small group, limited to a maximum of 14 participants, to preserve intimacy, care, and depth in the work.

Purpose of the Program

During Ramadan, the removal of food, distraction, and familiar comforts can make relationships feel more intense. Old wounds surface. Emotional reactions feel closer to the skin. Both challenges and opportunities in marriages, families, and friendships can rise to the surface. Relationship tensions and the underlying gifts that are waiting to be revealed can become more subtly or directly apparent.

When Fasting Reveals the Heart is a facilitated group counseling experience designed to hold space for this reality. Rather than pushing through or pathologizing what emerges, the group invites participants to gently notice, understand, and relate differently to themselves and others during the month of fasting.
This is not about fixing relationships.

It is about returning to oneself and to Allah in relationship.

What You Will Gain?

Gentle shifts in how you meet yourself and your relationships during Ramadan, held through presence and heart-centered awareness

A quieter, clearer way of being with yourself and others

This experience does not promise change or resolution. What it offers instead is something more subtle and often more lasting: the chance to meet what arises during Ramadan with greater presence, understanding, and care, especially within your relationships.

Greater awareness of relational patterns

As fasting removes familiar buffers, you may begin to notice emotional reactions and relational dynamics more clearly, without judgment or urgency to fix them.

A steadier relationship with your emotions

By slowing down and sitting with what emerges, you may experience more space between feeling and reaction, allowing for greater regulation and self-trust.

The experience of being held in shared humanity

Being in a small, respectful group can soften isolation and offer relief through witnessing and being witnessed, without pressure to explain or perform.

What This Space For

This space is for those who sense that Ramadan brings something tender to the surface, especially in their relationships, and who are seeking a place to meet that experience with honesty and care.

When relationships feel closer to the heart

You may notice emotional or relational tension during Ramadan, or find yourself reacting in familiar or confusing ways as fasting removes your usual buffers.

When you long for deeper connection

You feel an ache to relate more openly and from the heart during Ramadan, with yourself and with others, rather than pushing through or holding everything in.

When understanding matters more than labels

You’re seeking awareness, reflection, and relational insight rather than diagnosis, and you value a small, respectful space held with intention.

The Shape of the Gathering

The intention of this program is to offer a safe, contained space where participants can:

Important to know

You don’t need to arrive with answers, only a willingness to notice what is already present. At the same time, to care for everyone in the space, it’s important to be clear about its boundaries. This offering is not trauma treatment, psychiatric or crisis care, a substitute for individual therapy, or a content-heavy instructional course. It is intended for those who feel resourced enough to engage in reflective group work. Those needing deeper or acute support are encouraged to seek appropriate professional care.

Holding the Space

This gathering is hosted by Dar al-Shifaa and facilitated by Saman Hussain.
The group is held with care, ethical clarity, and respect for the vulnerability that arises when hearts are more exposed.

TAKE THE STEP. BEGIN WITH CARE

This is a space to listen to what the heart is revealing

When fasting removes our usual buffers, relationships often speak more clearly. This offering is a small, guided space to sit with what emerges, without fixing or diagnosing, and without carrying it alone. If you’re longing to meet this month with more presence and care, you’re invited to step inside.

Please note: This is a limited-capacity offering. Registration will close once the space is filled.
