cannot heal
alone.

Something in you already knows that you were not meant to do this alone.

The longing for real community. For connection that goes beneath the surface. For a space where the deepest parts of you can be held without judgment.

These are not small desires. They are, as the Islamic tradition understands it, part of how the heart heals.

In this week-long experience, Dr. Abdallah Rothman draws on twenty years of practice to explore one of the most overlooked truths of inner work: the nafs cannot fully know itself in isolation.

Real transformation unfolds in relationship, in the sincere companionship the tradition calls suhba.

What you'll experience

Not a lecture.
A lived experience.

This program is designed so you leave having felt something, not just heard something. Each element is drawn from the Shifaa Method, a framework rooted in Islamic psychology and developed over two decades of retreat and therapeutic practice.

01
Why we cannot heal alone.
Teaching on the nafs, and why self-directed inner work reaches a ceiling, and what the Islamic tradition offers beyond it.
02
The experience of suhba.
Structured companion practice where you feel what it is to be witnessed, and to offer that presence to another.
03
Guided muhasabah.
A led self-reflection practice rooted in the tradition: not abstract, but specific, grounded, and integrative.
04
Real community, not an audience.
Breakout conversations and open dialogue with others who are genuinely turning inward, held in a guided container.
05
Clarity on your next step.
By the close of Session 2, you will have a felt sense of what deeper residential work looks like, and whether a retreat is calling you.

The heart of the program

Why suhba is not a side benefit: it is how healing works.

The nafs, as the tradition understands it, does not reveal itself in isolation. It conceals its own patterns from itself.

Real transformation requires sincere companionship: not therapy, not community in a generic sense, but honest, grounded relationship that functions as both mirror and support.

This is why this program is not a webinar. It is a week-long live experience: two 90-minute sessions with Dr. Abdallah, and curated videos and reflections in between to keep the conversation alive between you and the community.

"We chose this format deliberately. What you experience in Session 1 has a full week to settle before Session 2. You return changed, and the room receives you differently too."

What are the session times?
Both sessions run 2:00–3:30 PM UK (9:00–10:30 AM US Eastern). Session 1 is Saturday, May 23 and Session 2 is Saturday, May 30, 2026. Each session is 90 minutes, with curated content and community engagement delivered throughout the week between them.
Is this program only for Muslims?
The program is grounded in Islamic psychology. It is designed primarily for Muslims and those who are spiritually drawn to this framework. People of other backgrounds who feel genuinely called to this work are welcome.
