Dar al Shifaa retreat 2026

A Journey of Inner Healing and Renewal

This retreat offers a sanctuary for deep reflection, healing, and connection, blending muraqabah by the sea, heart-centered practices in Islamic Psychology, and suhba for meaningful companionship.

Set in a tranquil coastal setting, it nurtures the body and soul through somatic practices, nature immersion, and farm-to-table halal meals, creating a transformative space for renewal and self-discovery.

When the world around us feels unstable and uncertain, we long to find the quiet within and to be in compassionate community with one another. The psychological gems within the Islamic tradition provide the soul a pathway towards cultivating this peace, both internally and externally.

Drawing on this wisdom, Dar al Shifaa has developed a holistic framework of wellbeing, which is at the heart of everything we do, but it is realized to its fullest within a community setting that facilitates collective healing.

Why Choose Dar al-Shifaa Retreat

Healing in Suhba

Dar al-Shifaa’s retreat is intentionally designed around suhba — sincere companionship — and heart-centered grounding practices rooted in Islamic psychology. This is not a retreat focused on escape or self-optimization, but on restoration through presence, prayer, embodied practice, and being held within a guided community.

You choose this retreat if you are seeking depth without overwhelm, structure without rigidity, and healing that unfolds through relationship — with the heart, the body, the land, and one another. Every element, from the daily rhythm to the setting and nourishment, is carefully held to support safety, integration, and meaningful inner change.

Where stillness, prayer, and shared presence create space for the heart to heal

What to Expect

A guided and held space for reflection, presence, and the healing of the heart.

Morning By The Sea

You arrive at a breathtaking farm on the coast of Northern California. The ocean stretches before you, the rolling hills embrace you, and the air carries a quiet stillness. Here, you are home.

You begin each day with guided muraqaba, your feet in the sand, the waves carrying away the weight you’ve been holding.

Suhba and Companionship

This retreat is not a solitary inward journey. It is a collective one. You will be accompanied by others who are also turning inward with sincerity, creating a shared field of presence where healing is supported through togetherness.

Through connection, shared silence, attentive listening, and unspoken understanding, companionship becomes a quiet guide, reminding the heart that it does not heal in isolation. In being witnessed and in witnessing others, the heart softens, steadies, and finds its way back to what is essential.

Presence and Practice

Through guided sessions woven throughout the day, you engage in heart-centered and somatic practices, reflective teachings, and experiential exercises rooted in Islamic psychology. Time is intentionally paced with prayer and rest, allowing insights to deepen and integrate naturally.

Moments of learning are balanced with stillness, movement, and shared presence, supporting the nervous system and creating space for the heart to soften, reflect, and return to its natural rhythm.

Gathered in Presence

You move through the retreat within a space shaped by guidance and care, where shared stillness, gentle reflection, and attentive presence create the conditions for the heart to soften and heal.

Each meal is halal, seasonal, and shared together, supporting both physical nourishment and a sense of connection. Eating becomes part of the retreat experience, a moment to slow down, gather, and receive what has been grown with patience, care, and love.

The Venue

A Coastal Sanctuary

Nestled along the stunning coastal hills of Northern California, this 753-acre Muslim-owned farm is a testament to regenerative agriculture and environmental stewardship. Participants will enjoy luxury glamping accommodations, thoughtfully designed with comfort and serenity in mind. Each tent features memory foam mattresses, organic cotton, and ambient lighting, ensuring a restful stay. Modern, gender-separated bathroom facilities with hot showers are conveniently located nearby.

The farm’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its permaculture practices, organic farming, and soil restoration efforts. Guests are invited to participate in hands-on activities, from gardening to learning about regenerative farming, fostering a deep connection to the land.
